Art Shows!
Doing By Not Doing
December 6th at 6pm at Red River Cafe
Is my first ever art show. I am gathering some of my favorite work that I've created since starting to draw fulltime and displaying it at Red River Cafe. Almost every piece displayed will be the original work aside from some pieces that have been purchased by collectors that I'm still proud of and want to show. I'm going to have the stories of each piece printed and displayed next to each drawing, the writing that's associated with each drawing is important to me and I'm hoping for people to be able to enjoy experiencing the work in a meaningful way.
Raul and Norma, the owners of Red River Cafe, have been incredibly gracious and generous to me for the past year or so. They took to my work, engaging with me while I was sitting down and drawing there one day, and offered to display my prints for sale on the wall of their lovely cafe. Now they're offering to host the show, something I'm extremely grateful for, which means there will be drinks and potentially food available for purchase at the show itself!
Doing By Not Doing, or Wu Wei as it's called in Taoism, has been an orienting principle for me as I've navigated the beginning of my career as an artist. I plan on giving a speech and an artist's talk near the last quarter of the show or so once everyone has settled in to the space. I'm hoping everyone feels comfortable enough to ask questions freely, for us to talk about art and its role in our lives, and to just generally open up and be curious together. Art has an ability to connect us like nothing else can and I'm exceedingly joyous as I anticipate my first show. I hope to see you there :)
Here is some, but not all, of the work I will be showing
